Export of a 40.5 Ton RMG Gantry Crane to Mongolia

This project involves the customized design and delivery of a 40.5-ton, 17.5-meter-span RMG(rail-mounted gantry) crane for a freight hub in Mongolia. The RMG crane delivered to Mongolia utilizes low-temperature steel and a cold-resistant electrical system, enabling stable operation in extreme cold environments down to -40°C.
Equipped with PLC automatic control and a remote operation and maintenance system, the RMG crane can significantly enhance operational efficiency by 30-50%. This project serves as a flagship example of our company’s intelligent, weather-resistant lifting equipment entering the Asian market.

Challenge: Reliable Operation in Extreme Cold
Located on an inland plateau, Mongolia experiences winter temperatures as low as -40°C, posing severe challenges to the material properties, sealing performance, and lubrication systems of the equipment.
To address this, our company implemented the following customized solutions:
Low-Temperature Steel: The main structure utilizes Q345E low-temperature steel, with impact toughness meeting the requirements for -40°C operating conditions to eliminate the risk of cold embrittlement;
Low-Temperature Lubrication System: The entire machine is equipped with low-pour-point grease and an automatic centralized lubrication system to ensure smooth mechanical operation under extreme cold conditions;
Cold-Resistant Electrical Configuration: Control cabinets are fitted with heating devices, and low-temperature flexible cables are selected to ensure the stability of the electrical system;
Wind and Snow Protection Design: Walkways, guardrails, and critical structural joints have all been designed and checked according to snow-load calculations to ensure structural safety.

Given the relative scarcity of specialized operators in Mongolia, this project prioritizes enhancing automation levels:
PLC Centralized Control: Utilizes a Siemens PLC system to achieve precise coordinated control of the three major mechanisms: hoisting mechanism, gantry travelling mechanism, and trolley travelling mechanism;
Anti-Sway System: Electronic anti-sway technology effectively suppresses lifting device sway, improving operational safety and efficiency;
Remote Monitoring: Equipped with real-time data acquisition and remote diagnostic interfaces to support remote maintenance by the manufacturer, reducing after-sales response times;
Fault Self-Diagnosis: The system automatically identifies common faults and issues alarm notifications, minimizing downtime losses.
